"STONEHENGE" revisited ©
The picture, above, of Stonehenge, is of course meant as a joke. It is something that came to me one day while playing with a set of dominoes -- I have included it partly for fun, and partly to catch the eye of the viewer -- as well as the imagination.
NOTES:- In Christianity 'Satan' is a 'fallen Angel'(said to have been Gods closest associate). He was 'Seth' in the Garden of Eden, 'Set' in the Egyptian Pantheon of Gods, and 'TYPHON' to the Greeks.
In "Beyond Stonehenge" G.S. Hawkins quotes from R.S.
Newall,(1959) that Diodorus speaks of a hyperborean temple which
could be Stonehenge. He then refers to "Plutarch's reference to
the 'Typhon' (comet) as being associated with the number 56, and
more particularly that the 'Typhon' was the 'Demon of Eclipses'. This
reference is given considerable emphasis in "The Cosmic Serpent",
where 'Clube and Napier suggest that 'Typhon' associated phenomena
may occur at 56 year intervals.
By refering to the layout of Stonehenge, 56 markers occur in the form of holes which are arranged in a circle of approximately 290 feet in diameter, and they are spread around the circumference at approx 16 feet.
Stonehenge was as we know not a single construction, but the 56 Aubrey holes, named after their discoverer, are known to have existed in the earliest of layouts. Stonehenge 2 and 3 as they are known, are considered to be more associated with primitive ritual. As stated by "Fred Hoyle" in "On Stonehenge"
"One can be virtually certain that science has been displaced by ritual"
"The intellectual activity of mankind during prehistory is a vast almost uncharted ocean".
'Hoyle' goes even further when he says that in his opinion the layout of the original Stonehenge was beyond the capability of the indigenous population, and that the site was probably selected by people who must be,.....
"........sought elsewhere, and the search is then broadened so greatly that I feel no "surprise, or unease, that the fore-runners are, so far, unknown".
Viewed from the Earth, the orbits of the Sun and the Moon are
off-set to each other at an angle of 5 deg. 9 mins. and the two
intersections are clearly marked in the Stonehenge layout. These are
an essential factor in the prediction of eclipses. Although the
angles of intersection remain constant, they slowly progress. The
time required for them to complete the rotation is 18.61 years, and
this is known as the 'Saros Cycle'. (in astrology, these
angles of intersection between the path of the Sun (ecliptic) and the
Moon are called, the "Moons Nodes". A rounded-off figure of
19years is generally used in astrology for the Nodes to complete
their cycle of the Zodiac). 
If we are convinced by the astronomers that one function of Stonehenge was to predict eclipses, we should also take heed of other events which may have also 'eclipsed' the Sun and Moon to some degree. Certainly the tail of a large comet passing before them could have caused considerable darkening, and therefore, have qualified to be marked on their astronomical clock, probably with a view of predicting it's recurrence. It is also woth noting the strange coincidence that, in astrology, the Nodes of the Moon are also named:- "The Dragon's Head" (north Node) and the "Dragon's Tail", (south Node). So that once more we have this odd connection with the idea of the Cosmic Serpent/Dragon!
